inspection and registration for your vehicle? recreational vehicles?
what do you think about these? are they really necessary past a point? should they be done so often and the average citizen be forced to pay so much? once the car is yours and you buy the plates is it really necessary to re-register it every year? also for inspection, should that be optional? many states do not have it, others do. there is no noticable difference in accidents in either place, or any other statistic. what about recreational vehicles like ATV's? if a motorcycle has 2 wheels and is allowed, why not a bigger, safer version? what do you think about this?

1. I try and not think that hard... All of it generates revenue to the state... Money talks and bs walks. Need to drive--those are the rules...
2. Part of the registration goes to highway maintenance. There are various other things that get money from the payment also. I wish my State had inspections. every time I follow a vehicle that looks more like a mosquito fogger than a passenger vehicle I get upset. Some people could save money also. A $10 inspection verses a $25 fine for a burnt out headlight. You can't compare motorcycles to ATV's because one is for on-road and one for off-road. I can't see a way to go even 55 MPH, safely, on a trail. Look how many kids are getting killed yearly on ATV's because they go top speed without knowing what the terrain ahead of them is.
3. I agree. You should only have to pay for registration if you plan on using the roads for the next year. I think it you just park it you shouldn't have to register it. Oh, wait, it's already that way, isn't it?
The states that do have an effective inspection system in place are rewarded with fewer accident during the year. If not for inspections, a lot of people would be driving cars with no brakes and bald tires putting out blue smoke.
