Anyone done RV-ing in California?

I plan to do RV-ing in California for as much as a couple of months. I want to stay mainly along the coastal areas, not much inland.

Since I've never done this before, I need tips on rentals, places to stay that are safe, clean and relatively inexpensive. Also, suggestions on areas that are scenic and quiet with things to see and do.

I am not into going into the "wilderness" and roughing it, I have a mild princess syndrome so that is out of the question!

1. Try Wal-mart, no seriously, many people do. I laughed the first time I heard this, but there's websites giving info.
