Do you ask permission before camping in Wal-Mart parking lot?
We are going to give motorhome (class c) camping a shot with a rental from a local company. We have an end location planned for a 5 day campground stay, but have 2 days when we are doing some quick trips along the way. I've heard that Wal-Mart is receptive to campers (quick overnight stays with no actual "set up"). So, my question is, for those who have camped at a Wal-Mart parking lot, do you actually go into the store and ask or do you assume a don't ask, don't tell policy?

1. they won't mind they know you will shop and thats why they are there.
2. check site below not all wal-marts do allow overnight stays and they list some that do and it was a bad experience. hope this helps.
3. Just like planning your trip, call ahead and check it out. Some WalMarts are ok with it, but bad experiences have lead to them saying no. If you find a couple that you may stop at, check in with them out of respect to let them know you appreciate it and be sure to leave the lot as you found it, no extra garbage on the ground. The local Wal Mart near me, had someone dump their "gray" tank during the night which wasn't cool, thankfully it was their "black/poop" tank that got dumped.
4. you can also stay overnight at truck stops.......you may want to consider that
5. The one in my town has signs outside where the campers use to park at saying NO OVER NIGHT PARKING!! So u best check to see if your allowed to park there over night
