What is the best way to remove old factory applied decals from fiberglass RV's or boats?
I am detailing a 2001 Montana RV for a customer. What is the easiest and best way to remove the dry rotted, shrinking, oxidized decals? Customer already knows it will be tough and may produce "clean spots" on the finish after i am done polishing the fiberglass. Thank you in advance.

1. There are some spray on products that soften the glue and make it easy to us a plastic putty knife or plastic razor blade to remove stickers. 3M makes a good one.
Another option is a heat gun that softens the glue. A solvent may still be required to remove excess glue.
2. Take a heat gun and heat them up and peel them off.Thats the best way i know.
3. I agree a heat gun works best, or a hair dryer works but slower. You nave to be careful but Acetone also works, but you can damage paint etc..so I put that down the list. I hope this helps.
4. The hardest thing to fiberglass and gel coat repair is the color match! Of course there will be lightened area's under the decal's, that area had not been exposed to the weather. There is nothing you can do and no cutter will blend it in! so either shoot that strip, or put new decals on! It's a good sign in woodburn oregon can make custom decals and you can reach her at my site www.rmmarine.com on the coupons page. Now for getting them decals off, just a heat gun and not to close but they just lift right off.
Take care and happy journeys!
